Foreigner Ahmed Mohamed Elsaid, who has been in custody since August 2, 2025, is suspected of brutally torturing a woman in Poltava. Initially, the case was classified as torture, but later the crimes charged were expanded: he is now charged with threatening to kill, illegal detention of the victim, rape, sexual assault, and robbery.
According to sources, Elsaid already had a criminal record for illegal detention and was previously accused of torture, but his guilt could not be proven. He had long been active in religious organizations and supported the Muslim Brotherhood movement, which is now recognized as a terrorist organization in Egypt.
The suspect met the victim through Instagram, persuaded her to come to Poltava, and brutally tortured her for a week. According to the investigation, he suffocated the woman with a pillow, put a bag over her head, poured boiling water over her, forced her to take cold showers, and transfer money to the accounts of his friends. During the torture, he filmed and showed the victim recordings of his previous crimes.
Law enforcement officers were able to free the victim on August 1 after she was able to send a short message to the Don with her address. The court remanded the suspect in pretrial detention without bail. A new hearing on the preventive measure is scheduled for early November.
Elsaid is known in criminal circles as Ahmed Box. He previously participated in the kidnapping of a Syrian student in 2012 and other criminal acts, for which he received minimal sentences, while his accomplices were sentenced more severely. In addition to criminal activities, Elsaid was actively involved in public activities in the Egyptian diaspora in Ukraine, meeting with religious and diplomatic leaders.
