In Kyiv, law enforcement officers have uncovered a large-scale mobilization evasion scheme organized by a group of lawyers. According to the SBU, the founder of a capital law firm, together with five accomplices — lawyers and their assistants — illegally "wrote off" more than 300 people of draft age from military registration.
The investigation found that the organizer was responsible for issuing fictitious medical certificates, while other participants sought clients, held meetings and transferred funds. Clients paid from 6.5 to 45 thousand euros for a certificate of disability of a relative or the need to care for him. These documents allowed conscripts to receive a deferment or complete exemption from service.
Since the beginning of 2024, participants in the scheme have helped more than three hundred men from eight regions of Ukraine avoid mobilization. During searches, law enforcement officers seized draft records, forged certificates, and price lists with "prices" for illegal services.
The perpetrators were informed of suspicion under a number of articles of the Criminal Code, including the creation of a criminal organization, aiding and abetting mobilization evasion, and forgery of documents.
The organizers and their accomplices face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
