In the first half of 2025, 577 citizens were officially declared bankrupt in Ukraine. Such data was published by the Insolvency Service.
On average, about three new personal insolvency cases are registered every day. This is a 33% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Last year, the number of bankruptcies reached a record high, with 926 cases registered.
The largest number of bankruptcy cases in 2025 was recorded in Kyiv — 128 cases. Kyiv region is in second place with 83 cases, and Lviv region is in third place with 73.
Over the past five years, a total of 2,948 bankruptcy cases have been opened in Ukraine. The gender distribution remains almost equal: 52% of cases since 2021 concern men, 48% - women. This balance almost does not change from year to year. In 2021, the majority of bankruptcies were men (57.9%), while in 2022 and 2025, women slightly predominate.
