Tax evaders' escape scheme exposed in Transcarpathia: bank's collection car used to illegally smuggle men abroad
In Transcarpathia, border guards, together with the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), have uncovered another scheme to illegally smuggle men of draft age abroad. To escape the "clients", the organizers used not ordinary cars, but the official collection vehicle of one of the Ukrainian banks.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported on the special operation and released a video of the detention.
During the operation, law enforcement officers, with the support of servicemen from the Luzhanka department and the KORD special unit, stopped a collection vehicle that was moving with its flashing lights on. Inside the armored capsule, designed to transport cash and valuables, were two bank employees and a man of draft age, whom they were taking to the border with Hungary.
According to the investigation, the cost of such a "service" was $16,500. The evader had already transferred part of the money to the organizers, and the rest was to be paid after successfully crossing the border.
By using official bank transport, the participants in the scheme tried to minimize the risks of inspection and create the illusion of officiality. However, border guards and the SBU received information about the transportation in time and blocked the escape attempt.
Investigative actions are currently ongoing. The organizers face criminal liability for the illegal smuggling of persons across the state border of Ukraine.
