A fraudulent scheme involving the delivery of cars from the USA was exposed in Zhytomyr: losses amounted to over 9 million hryvnias

In Zhytomyr, law enforcement officers have exposed a 26-year-old businessman who embezzled over 9 million hryvnias under the guise of delivering cars from the United States. The Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office reports this.

According to the investigation, the entrepreneur created a company that imported cars from the United States. At the beginning of his activity, he did indeed fulfill a few orders, which inspired trust among customers. However, he later left abroad, leaving the company under the control of hired managers who were not informed of the owner's fraudulent intentions.

The managers continued to work, finding new clients, processing documents, and accepting payment for the cars. All the money received went to the organizer of the scheme, who conducted business remotely via social media and messengers, assuring clients that the cars would be delivered quickly.

Law enforcement officers have already documented 26 cases of fraud. Among the victims are civilians and military personnel. The company operated not only in Zhytomyr, but also had offices in Kyiv, Odessa, and Lviv. The real number of victims is likely much higher.

The issue of seizing the suspect's property and choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is currently being resolved.
