There was an incident at the border in Vinnytsia region, during which the border guards opened fire on a person who was trying to cross the border illegally to get to Moldova.
Sources in law enforcement agencies informed journalists about this.
"The event happened yesterday around 3:00 p.m. In the village of Bolgan, border guards noticed a man trying to cross the border outside the checkpoint. During the detention, the man resisted. He hit one of the border guards, then used a gas canister and tried to take the service weapon from the serviceman. During the resistance during the detention, one of the soldiers fired two warning shots, after which he shot the man in the legs," the source tells the version of events from the border guards.
He also added that the detainee turned out to be a resident of Kyiv, born in 1990. After his arrest, he was taken to the hospital in the city of Kryzhopol.
"Two criminal cases have been opened based on this fact. One charge of obstructing the authorities, in this case the man faces up to two years of imprisonment. The second case was opened by the SBI against the border guards for exceeding their official powers," the source said.

Earlier, a person was shot dead at the border in Zakarpattia Oblast.
