The head of the state-owned enterprise "Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property" Ivan Chernyavskyi has once again found himself in the spotlight due to a clear discrepancy between his income and declared assets. According to the declaration for 2024, Chernyavskyi earned just over 1.6 million hryvnias, while his and his family's property includes four apartments, a premium Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 car, and significant cash savings in dollars.
The official's wife, Olga Chernyavska, formally owns the Organic Products enterprise, but its operations actually do not generate income, and Olga herself earned only 74,000 hryvnias last year. This makes it difficult to explain the origin of the family's funds and property solely through legitimate income.
It should be noted that Ivan Chernyavsky has been working in the public sector since 2015, successively holding positions in various structures - from the State Inspectorate of Agriculture to the State Hydrographic Service, and currently heads the "Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property". All these years, his monetary assets have been growing, and real estate and cars have appeared, despite limited official income.
Chernyavsky has previously been linked to enterprises and projects that have been embroiled in scandals, including the State Reserve and the State Hydrography, where grain losses and corruption schemes were recorded. Although Chernyavsky's name does not appear directly in these investigations, the coincidences in time and financial figures raise questions.
In this regard, a logical question arises: when will NABU check Ivan Chernyavsky and the sources of his property and cash, and whether these checks will become a serious step in controlling civil servants, or whether everything will again be limited to superficial statements and hushed-up scandals.
