Investigative journalist Volodymyr Boyko drew attention to the possible connection between NABU Chairman Semen Kryvonos and those involved in the Energoatom corruption case.
We are talking about criminal proceedings against certain Samotkal Eduard Viktorovych, Lysenko Dmitry Vasilyovych, Kim Vissarion Volodymyrovych for committing criminal offenses under Part 3 of Article 27, Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This concerns embezzlement and embezzlement of property through abuse of official position. Let us recall that Kim is the former head of NJSC Energoatom, and Samotkal is the owner of companies that supplied Energoatom with equipment at inflated prices. Special legal proceedings are underway against Samotkal. Samotkal fled from justice. But his companies, registered under his wife Ruslana, are still operating.
No one has been held accountable. NABU has no questions.
Boyko suggests that this is a consequence of Kryvonos' connection with Samotkal. The fact is that Samotkal's businesses are managed by the wife of NABU head Semyon Kryvonos, Halyna Polshynska.
The journalist learned that the history of the interaction between Samotkal and the Polshynsky family began back in the 1990s, when Halyna Polshynskaya's grandmother worked at the "Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Plant", which was controlled by the criminal group to which Samotkal belonged. And since then, representatives of the Polshynsky family, including Halyna, began to appear in positions in various enterprises related to Samotkal.
It is easy to see that Halyna Polyshynska is the wife of Semyon Kryvonos by looking at his declaration. It is she who manages LLC “Innovative Technological Products” (“Intechpro”), which is currently owned by Ruslana Samotkal.
Polshynska is also listed as the head of the following structures of Samotkal: DAAR company sro (Czech Republic) (from September 19, 2015 to February 22, 2017) and Business Perspective Alfa, sro (Czech Republic) (from October 6, 2015 to February 21, 2017) — which is evident from this register.
Eduard Samotkal is under investigation, wanted since 2017. His wife Ruslana owns his campaigns, at least one of which is suspected of corruption deals. The head of these companies is the wife of Semyon Kryvonos, the head of the most important anti-corruption structure. These are the facts. Let us recall that the Supreme Court of Ukraine registered the Energoatom case on May 25, 2020. Even then, Samotkal was a defendant. Even then, Polshynska was noted for her connections with his companies. And Semyon Kryvonos became the head of the NABU on March 6, 2023. So, Kryvonos was appointed when the case against Samotkal had already begun, and Polshynska was already running the same Intechpro.
“But on March 6, 2023, criminal authority Eduard Samotkal pulled out a truly lucky ticket: the husband and son-in-law of his trusted people became the director of NABU. After which the so-called anti-corruption activists instantly stuck their tongues in their asses and are no longer interested in why NABU has not yet achieved the deportation of the embezzler of funds from the South Ukrainian NPP to Ukraine and has not even detained Samotkal’s accomplices – the mother and daughter of the Polshynskis.
"Well, in gratitude for this, Kryvonos does not notice how "anti-corruption activists" are embezzling the Armed Forces of Ukraine and ordered the closure of criminal proceedings against the former head of the NACP Novikov and the former deputy head of the NACP Sytnyk, who arranged for soldier Shabunin to undergo fictitious military service," Boyko writes.
That is, Kryvonos's appointment took place in a clear conflict of interest. Why his wife's connections with the business of the suspect Samotkal were ignored is a separate question. Be that as it may, in this light it becomes obvious that Kryvonos was appointed head of NABU illegally. What to do about it? At the very least, dismiss him from his post. This would demonstrate the real readiness of the state system to self-purify.
