Former People's Deputy of Ukraine Vasyl Derevyany was detained by law enforcement officers for poaching in the Ternopil Region in the water area of ​​the Seret River. According to the police, the former deputy of the People's Republic illegally caught fish worth more than 27 thousand hryvnias, which is a significant violation of the current legislation.

Local fish guards, together with public inspectors, exposed violators who caught fish using prohibited methods, despite the current autumn-winter ban.

From November 1, there are restrictions on the catch of aquatic biological resources in Ternopil region, which will last until the start of spawning in 2025. However, as it turned out during the inspection of documents, Derevyanyi and his accomplice caught bream, crucian carp and catfish with a total weight of 52 kilograms, which is estimated at more than 27 thousand hryvnias, from the boat with three nets.

The police were called to the scene and seized the prohibited gear and caught fish. The law enforcement officers are currently investigating all the circumstances of the violation and carrying out the necessary procedural actions.
