Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation reported the suspicion of the former chief of the Main Department of the State Geocadastre in Chernivtsi region, who now holds the same position in another Western region. He is suspected of abusing office during illegal allocation of land by over UAH 2 million.
According to the DBR, in 2020-2021 the official signed a series of orders that allowed to transfer more than 1.4 hectares of land in Chernivtsi and village to private ownership that he was engaged in the territory of the former Zastavna district. Formally, the plots were allegedly provided for a personal peasant farm, but in fact, these lands were owned by territorial communities. And this means that any order by them without community consent is illegal.
All decisions were made in the shortest possible time. According to the investigators, the process of registration of documents was under the personal control of an official, who ordered to accelerate the consideration of applications of "elected" persons.
The bureau stated that they are currently checking the probable corruption component: the investigation examines the motives of the official's actions, and also establishes other persons who could be involved in the scheme.
The former head of the Office has already reported suspicion of an article about abuse of office, which led to grave consequences. The issue of choosing a preventive measure and removing him from his post is now being resolved in another region.
