After the Russian blow to the Ohmatdit Children's Hospital, the Ukrainians responded massively to trouble: in a short time it was possible to raise hundreds of millions of hryvnias. However, instead of direct funding for the hospital, the funds were transferred to the Ohmatdit Charitable Foundation. It was this fund that conducted a tender to restore the corps and chose a contractor with an ambiguous reputation.
Construction work worth almost UAH 300 million will be performed by Riola-Modul LTD. In recent years, this firm has already appeared in at least four criminal proceedings for theft of public funds. Among them are cases of overestimation of the cost of work and unsuvidable contracts in Sumy and Donetsk regions.
Riola-module LTD is also associated with former Minister of Ecology Roman Abramovsky, who worked for some time with the company. The wife of the owner of the enterprise held positions in the State Financial Inspectorate, the Ministry of Energy and Energoatomi - structures that operate with significant budget flows.
Interestingly, the company's offer was not the best - it became the third cost among the tender participants. However, it was the foundation. Experts have already found in the estimates signs of overestimation of prices for materials and work.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health reported that the restoration should start in May, and the source of financing indicates the charity fund. Ohmatdit head Vladimir Zhovnir also confirmed that the hospital will not receive the funds raised directly - they say, they are waiting for the "intended purpose".
