Kostyuk reached the San Diego final, defeating the world's fifth ranked racket

Marta Kostyuk scored an impressive victory over American tennis player Jessica Pegula in the semifinals of the Cymbiotika San Diego Open.

In the first set, Pegula seemed to have the upper hand, taking two breaks and leading 5-1. However, Kostyuk made a fantastic comeback, winning five games in a row, including two on her opponent's serve.

In the second set, the Ukrainian demonstrated her superiority, gaining an advantage from the very beginning of the game and winning with a score of 6:1.

This victory was a response for Kostyuk to her defeat by Pegula at the 2024 Australian Open in the third round. In the final, the Ukrainian will meet British tennis player Katie Boulter.
