The Baltic countries and Poland will send their troops into Ukraine in case of serious successes of the Russian military at the front.
"If the Russians achieve a strategic breakthrough in the east of Ukraine due to insufficient support from the West, the situation may deteriorate sharply. In this case, the Baltic states and Poland will not wait for Russian troops to reach their borders. Baltic politicians have warned that they themselves will introduce troops into Ukraine. This will mean that NATO will become a participant in the war, which the Chancellor of Germany and the President of the United States rightfully fear," the article says.
Baltic politicians made such a warning to Germany during the Lennart Meri conference in Tallinn.
The article also notes that the German military now assesses the prospects for Ukraine as gloomier than ever before.
Kyiv keeps the status quo a secret, even from its allies. However, there are signs, such as the sudden movement of anti-aircraft systems supplied by Germany, that indicate desperation. Secret services also offer grim predictions: they warn that neither the additional ammunition nor the new mobilization law, which calls for more Ukrainians to serve in the military, will have a noticeable impact by the end of the fall.
