In Kryvyi Rih in the winter, half of the city remained without heating - more than 250 thousand people, dozens of enterprises and critical infrastructure. As it turned out, the reason was the criminal scheme, organized by the former heads of the local state thermal power company.
This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine, publishing the details of the investigation.
According to the investigation, out of 1140 water heaters deliberately removed brass tubes - valuable parts, which subsequently handed over to scrap. To hide the traces of the intervention, the empty spaces in the equipment were filled with foreign objects - in particular clothing - and returned it to the place, creating the illusion of the performance of the system.
The total loss has reached almost UAH 30 million. As a result, the entire heat supply system failed during the heating period.
Law enforcement officers have already reported suspicion to ten persons, including two former officials, who, according to the investigation, were the organizers of the crime.
It is worth noting that in the winter, official sources explained the lack of heat on the networks and lack of staff through mobilization. However, now it turned out that the real causes were in the systematic theft of equipment.
The investigation is ongoing, and residents of the city expect a fair punishment for the perpetrators of an artificial catastrophe, which threatened the health and lives of people.
