The Department of Public Diplomacy and Communication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, following the instructions of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, developed and presented the first in the history of national diplomacy "Communication Strategy Ukraine - African States". This document, which is valid for a three-year period (2024-2026), is aimed at strengthening and expanding communication links between Ukraine and the countries of the continent.
The strategy is intended to systematically raise the awareness of target audiences in African countries about Ukraine, contributing to political and economic stability, strengthening food security, and increasing the volume of trade and cultural exchanges.
The document defines the key directions of the development of diplomatic relations of Ukraine with African countries and is part of the new horizons strategy, which provides for the activation of diplomatic activities with the countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. Already implemented diplomatic tours of Minister Dmytro Kuleba and his visits to 12 states of the continent indicate a new stage in cooperation.
The diplomatic course expressed in the strategy is aimed at a long-term effect, contributing to the construction of a solid foundation for a partnership based on respect, mutual interests and mutual benefits. The document analyzes the communication features of each subregion of Africa, aimed at overcoming anti-Ukrainian narratives and developing strategic approaches to communication in each of the target countries.
At the beginning of 2024, the ministry plans to present the public part of the strategy to familiarize the public with the key aspects and purpose of this important document.
