In the capital of Ukraine, the main Christmas tree can be installed on Sofia Square, but the final decision will be made at the end of November. This was stated by a deputy of the Kyiv City Council and the head of the parliamentary commission on culture, tourism and public communications Viktoriya Mukha on the air of one of the Ukrainian TV channels.
"Will there be a Christmas tree this year? This decision will be made by the Kyiv Defense Council at the end of November, taking into account the law on the peculiarities of martial law, taking into account the security situation and the recommendations of the relevant authorities. If this decision is adopted, the traditional place for setting up the New Year's tree is Sofia Square," Mukha said.
She noted that, like last year and the year before last, budget funds will not be spent on installing a Christmas tree.
In addition, according to her, Kyiv does not hold mass New Year and Christmas events under martial law.
Last year, the main Christmas tree was opened on December 6 in Sofia Square.
It was decorated with blue and gold heart-shaped toys. Also, the Christmas tree itself had white spots.
