In Kyiv, the vice-chancellor of one of the local universities was detained for attempting to create a bribe. The official demanded $2,000 from the applicant in exchange for admission to graduate school, which allowed the young man to receive a deferment from mobilization. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

A man approached the vice-rector with the intention of enrolling in postgraduate studies at a higher educational institution. In this way, he wanted to get a reason for postponement of conscription for military service. The vice-rector assured the man of successful enrollment in his studies by influencing the members of the examination commission, on the condition that he would pay him 2,000 dollars.
Law enforcement officers detained a university official while accepting a bribe and informed him of suspicion under part 3 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code - abuse of influence.
He faces up to eight years in prison.
