Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko's promise to launch the metro to Vynohradar in 2026 contradicts the forecasts of the Kyiv Metro itself. The public organization "Passengers of Kyiv" drew attention to this after analyzing the speeches of transport officials at a meeting of the relevant commission of the Kyiv City Council.
During the discussion, the head of the Kyiv Metro Enterprise, Viktor Vyhivskyi, said that in 2026 it is planned to complete only the main structures of the Mostytska station. To launch traffic, it is necessary to complete another station, Prospekt Pravdy. According to him, the approximate date for putting the facility into operation is 2027, and it may be postponed due to financial difficulties and martial law.
These words are in sharp contrast to the statement of Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko made during the session of the Kyiv City Council on October 9. Then the mayor assured that in 2026 at least one metro station on Vynohradar will be open to passengers.
Passengers of Kyiv emphasize: different positions of officials create misinformation for residents and form unrealistic expectations. Construction continues to be delayed, and there is no objective confirmation of the possibility of launching in 2026.
The launch of the Vynohradar metro line remains one of the capital's key infrastructure projects. However, due to unstable funding and discrepancies in official statements, people still do not have a clear understanding of when the new line will become a reality.
