The doctor and deacon from Kharkiv passed data to the Russian special services

In Kharkiv, a psychotherapist of the local medical institution and his accomplice, a deacon of the Kharkiv Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP), on cooperation with Russian special services were exposed. According to the investigation, these persons conveyed the enemy sensitive information, which included data on the locations of the Ukrainian military, routes of movement of equipment and personal data of defenders.

The doctor, who was recruited by Russian special services a few years ago, gathered information through his patients, including military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were rehabilitated. His accomplice, the deacon, actively assisted in this process, he drew the details in the parishioners of his church, which could be useful to the enemy.

The data collected by the doctor led to reports and transferred to his curators from Russia. In addition, the psychotherapist actively justified the aggression of the Russian Federation, publicly humiliating Ukrainians and expressing his thoughts about the need for “libing” of Ukrainian territories. The examination confirmed the unlawful nature of his statements.

The suspects were detained during searches at their place of residence. The evidence of their unlawful activity was removed, which confirm the fact of cooperation with the Russian special services.

Both suspect was declared accusations of treason (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and justification of aggression of the Russian Federation (Part 1 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine-regarding the doctor). The court chose a pre -trial detention measure for them without bail.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) provides operational support and pre -trial investigation of this case. The cooperation of a doctor and a deacon with Russian special services is a serious challenge for the security of Ukraine's national interests. This emphasizes the need for increased counterintelligence, because the enemy is actively looking for new ways of gathering information, using even medical workers and religious figures for their own purposes.
