The Lviv City Council plans to announce tenders for the ongoing repair of three key main streets of the city in the near future. Payment for the work performed will be postponed for several years. This was reported on the city hall website.
First Deputy Mayor Andriy Moskalenko emphasized the importance of repairs right now:
" If we don't repair the top layer this year, then in a year or two we will have to repair the road completely ."
According to the director of the housing department, Oksana Pryhoda, current repairs cost about UAH 12 million per kilometer, while major repairs cost UAH 22–25 million.
“ In any case, the city will be forced to restore this coating. Now we can do it for less and with deferred payment ,” she explained.
Moskalenko also added that there are companies on the market that are ready to perform the work at their own expense and wait for payment. The specific payment terms will be determined in the tender documentation.
Which streets will be renovated?
-
Stryyska Street — two sections with a total length of 10.8 km (from the Ukrainian Catholic University to the city limits and from house No. 86 to the city limits);
-
Horodotska St. — 2 km (from Vyhovsky to Sknylivsky Bridge);
-
Heroes of the UPA Street — 1.4 km (from Zaliznyak to Bandera).
According to the City Council, these streets have the largest traffic flow in Lviv: over 40 thousand cars pass through Stryiska Street every day, and over 13 thousand pass through Horodotska Street.
