Maria Ionova, People's Deputy of Ukraine, expressed her indignation at the restrictions on the activities of people's elected officials, which, according to her, are criminal actions of the authorities. She emphasized the need to protect the right to work, especially at a time when it is important to protect the country.
"We kept this situation in the shadows because it harms the interests of the state. It is important for us to do our work responsibly, especially in the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Verkhovna Rada. During this time, changes took place in the political situation of the West due to the holding of elections in various countries. We have always emphasized the importance of systematic work in interparliamentary activities. Unfortunately, in the last five years, when I have been working in the committee, not a single visit has been made," said Maria Ionova.
According to her, personal contacts of parliamentarians with colleagues from other countries are extremely important. She emphasized that she communicates with the military, visits the front, meets with families of servicemen. Maria Ionova also stated that she filed a lawsuit to restrict her activities, as she considers it unacceptable.
"Now we work at the level of online contacts, but when we are asked why we cannot come to an invitation, I have to explain it. I don't know how else to explain to the authorities their responsibility. Yes, I filed a lawsuit because I am being attacked and I am defending myself. I am elected as a representative of a political force, and I have to defend my right to work," added the People's Deputy of Ukraine.
