On the morning of Easter, March 31, according to the Gregorian calendar, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine with the help of cruise missiles launched from Tu-95 bombers based in the Saratov region, at a distance of about 1.6 thousand kilometers from Ukraine. During the festive night, Russia carried out strikes with the help of "shaheeds" in various regions of Ukraine, reaching the central and western regions.
The missiles entered the airspace of Ukraine at approximately 5:00 a.m., passing near the northern part of Kyiv region, where air defense was in place, and headed west.
They quickly reached the Zhytomyr, Rivne, and Ternopil regions, and the mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovy, warned of a threat to the city.
The Air Force also reported the direction of the rockets towards Lutsk and the threat to Ivano-Frankivsk.
Around 5:50 in the morning, the rockets already flew over Lviv in several waves.
Later, the Air Force and local authorities reported that the rockets had reached Lviv and hit Stryi.
This city has been the target of Russian strikes during several recent attacks, there were even two "daggers".
The authorities reported on Russia's shelling of gas plants and underground storage facilities.
Also, monitoring channels signaled a potential threat to Burshtyn in the Frankiv region, but the Air Force did not provide information on this account, focusing on the warning about the regional center.
As in previous days of the attacks, the Polish air force said it had raised its combat aircraft due to the proximity of the missiles to the border between the two countries.
On March 31, most Western countries celebrate Easter according to the Gregorian calendar. Ukrainian Orthodox and Greek Catholics continue to celebrate Easter in the old style, which this year falls on May 5. However, a large part of the residents of western Ukraine celebrate this Christian holiday on March 31.
