Green tea, matcha and other ways to cheer up without coffee

Many people start their day with a cup of coffee because it helps them wake up quickly and get ready for work. However, coffee can cause side effects such as rapid heartbeat, shaky hands, anxiety, or headaches. Fortunately, there are alternatives that give you energy without the negative consequences.

Matcha is a concentrated green tea powder that is popular all over the world. The drink has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and calming properties. The caffeine in matcha stimulates the brain and body: a cup contains from 38 to 178 mg, which is comparable to coffee.

Green tea is a classic option for those looking for a light pick-me-up. One cup contains about 25 mg of caffeine, as well as antioxidants and anti-inflammatories that help avoid the jitters associated with coffee.

Black tea contains about 47 mg of caffeine per cup and has a number of health benefits, including reducing the risk of heart disease and dementia, and helping to calm the nervous system. It is also used to make kombucha, a fermented drink with probiotics.

Chicory is a great caffeine-free alternative. Chicory root tea has a nutty, coffee-like flavor and is non-jittery. Similar options include decaf, golden milk, dandelion root tea, and chestnut coffee.

Yaupon tea is an herbal drink made from the leaves of an evergreen shrub native to America. It contains caffeine but is non-anxiety-inducing and improves well-being, digestion, and mental processes.

Mate is a drink made from the leaves of the Paraguayan oak tree, popular in South America. One cup contains about 80 mg of caffeine. Mate helps increase energy and concentration without causing jitters.

Thanks to these alternatives, you can start the day invigorated, maintaining peace and good health.
