Over the past year, 340 bone marrow transplant operations took place in Ukraine, as the head of the Ministry of Health, Viktor Lyashko, said during the Yedyni Novyny telethon. He noted that the transplant pilot project was successfully completed and turned into a medical guarantee program, while additional funds were allocated for the development of the transplantation field.
Lyashko expressed satisfaction with the results of the pilot project, stressing that only in 2023, 585 organ transplants and 340 bone marrow transplants were performed. In his statement, he also noted that currently 2,914 patients are waiting for transplant operations that can save their lives.
