Two servicemen involved in the illegal receipt of almost 900,000 hryvnias in additional payments will be tried in the Kyiv region, the State Bureau of Investigation reports.
According to the investigation, the deputy commander of the artillery battery prepared three reports in which he provided false information: allegedly he and 19 other servicemen performed combat missions in the Chernihiv region in August-September 2024. In reality, the servicemen were in another location and did not perform combat missions.
The battery commander did not check the accuracy of the data and signed the documents. Based on them, the soldiers were paid almost 900 thousand hryvnias.
As a result, the battery commander is charged with negligent service, which caused serious consequences in conditions of martial law (Part 4, Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). This article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment.
His deputy was charged with intentional failure to perform official duties, which led to grave consequences (Part 4 of Article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The maximum penalty under this article is up to 10 years in prison.
At the same time, during the pre-trial investigation, the state was fully compensated for all damages caused.
