The Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko said that it will not be possible to implement the ambitious project "Zelensky's Gigawatt in 2024" by the end of the year. This project envisages a significant increase in wind and solar energy capacities in Ukraine, but a number of factors make it difficult to implement it within the planned time frame.
In an interview with Forbes, the minister said that only equipment with a capacity of more than 1 GW should be delivered by the end of the year.
"In some cities, generating plants are already standing, but they will be able to connect them no earlier than January 2025," he said.
It will be recalled that at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024, which was held on July 11 in Berlin, the president stated that Ukraine wants to build up to 1 gigawatt of gas-fired power generation with the help of partners by the end of this year. This promise was called "Zelensky's Gigawatt".
In September, the former head of Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, said that only about 60 MW were built from Zelenskyi's Gigawatt in Ukraine.
