The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine intends to expand the range of its own drones, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov said.
According to him, drones will soon be able to attack not only ground and water targets, but also air targets.
Currently, intelligence specialists are working on equipping an unmanned platform with air defense equipment, training such a drone to detect, track and shoot down objects in the air, Budanov said.
"It's a challenge, but achievable," he noted.
Former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Zahorodniuk, for his part, noted that Ukrainian drones are impressive with their progress. According to him, just a few years ago, marine drones were considered conceptual models at international arms exhibitions, and now Ukrainian engineers are actually the first in the world to turn this idea into a practical reality.
He expressed his belief that after the war, Ukraine will become one of the leading exporters of naval drones.
