Ukrainian communities faced serious difficulties due to the ban on the departure of deputies of local councils abroad, which caused a sharp decrease in international aid. As the executive director of the Association of Cities of Ukraine (AMU) Oleksandr Slobozhan reported in the public initiative project "Golka" - "Bridges of Ukraine", this ban was a consequence of the presidential decree, approved by the National Security Council, regarding restrictions on the movement of people's deputies abroad.
Slobozhan noted that the ban did not apply to local self-government, but it had a significant impact on the work of local deputies, who previously actively traveled abroad, building partnerships with international organizations and businesses. According to him, such activity significantly contributed to the attraction of aid for the restoration of Ukrainian communities, which has now become much more difficult due to restrictions on deputies.
"As a result, aid from abroad decreased by three times," Slobozhan noted, stressing that now this responsibility rests exclusively on the shoulders of the mayors, who are forced to seek international support on their own. He also noted that municipalities trying to raise funds often do not have sufficient tools and resources to effectively work with international partners and organizations.
