Mobilization to the Armed Forces: Who becomes a conscript before the age of 25

Mobilization into the Armed Forces continues in Ukraine, which applies to men under 25 years of age. This measure is aimed at strengthening the country's defense capabilities in the context of the worsening geopolitical situation and preservation of territorial integrity.

In Ukraine, the conscription age was reduced to 25 years. However, there are cases when younger people can be drafted into the Armed Forces during the mobilization from May 18. The publication "Ukrainian Pravda" reported on this in more detail.

Mobilization from May 18: who will be drafted before the age of 25

According to the Law of Ukraine "On Military Duty and Military Service", there are cases when persons younger than 25 years of age are subject to being registered as conscripts during mobilization from May 18. It is about:

  • men released from military service in reserve;
  • those who stopped alternative (non-military) service;
  • dismissed law enforcement officers, senior and rank-and-file members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Intelligence Service, the Operational Rescue Service of Civil Protection, the State Criminal Enforcement Service of other law enforcement and law enforcement agencies;
  • persons who were removed from the records of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the SSR;
  • dismissed from service in the military reserve;
  • are exempted from conscription for military service, if the reason is not at the same time a reason for granting a postponement from mobilization in Ukraine. We are talking about persons who, after graduating from higher education institutions, were assigned military (special) ranks of officers (supervisors).

We will remind you that after President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law on lowering the minimum age for mobilization in Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be able to add approximately 100,000 young fighters.

Earlier, People's Deputy, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Fedir Venislavsky said that he is positive about lowering the conscription age. According to him, there are no plans to reduce the minimum age to 20 in Ukraine.
