Ukraine is faced with incidents of mobilization of persons who have the right to postponement and work at significant defense enterprises. The men's phones are confiscated, they are sent to the Military Medical Commission (MMC), and they are contacted only when they are sent for training. Often, such persons turn out to be unsuitable for military service.
People's deputy from "Holos" Roman Kostenko told about this in his interview. He noted that work is already underway with the TCC regarding this problem.
"I will not specify a specific area, but I have already discussed it with the heads of the TCC, and they understood my arguments. This is a serious matter. A person who works for a defense company or manufactures products for the military must update their information to receive a deferment, but their phone can be seized and searched without warning. She learns about it only when she is sent to study. This is unacceptable," Kostenko said.
The People's Deputy emphasized that the military commissars do not care who they draft, and their work does not deal with the consequences of these actions for the production of weapons and the defense-industrial complex.
"That's why we paid attention: what are you directing your efforts to? For example, I discussed a situation where a person has excellent visual health, but due to administrative obstacles could not undergo an ophthalmological examination. This is an organization problem. We must ensure that the army is not just those we can catch, but quality, motivated and healthy individuals. Motivation can be developed during service, but we must ensure that our military receives strong support from serious enterprises that supply them with weapons," he emphasized.
Kostenko also noted that this problem is already under consideration and emphasized the importance of preserving the capabilities of the defense-industrial complex in the conditions of mobilization.
As for the mobilization procedure in Ukraine, it is now based on the updated rules of military medical examination, which take into account not only diseases, but also the degree of impairment of body functions that led to these diseases. The concept of "limited suitability" disappears, only the statuses "suitable" and "unsuitable" remain. For example, if a person only has a scar after an ulcer, they are considered fit. But if an operation was performed to remove part of the stomach due to complications of the ulcer, the person is considered unfit. In case of deterioration of health, servicemen can turn to their commander with a report for treatment or undergoing medical examination.
