Ukrainian telecom operator "Kyivstar" has confirmed its intention to acquire the popular taxi-hailing and delivery service Uklon. This was reported by the company's press service, noting that a strategic priority for the operator is investment in innovative technologies and the expansion of new services. The acquisition of Uklon is an important step in building an integrated digital ecosystem and inorganic growth of Kyivstar's business.
Uklon, operating in Ukraine and Uzbekistan, is one of the leading players in the market of online platforms for ordering transportation and delivery. This agreement will allow not only to increase investments in digital services, but also provide access to new markets thanks to the support of Kyivstar's parent company, Veon Holding. According to company representatives, this step will be an important step in business scaling.
"Kyivstar" notes that investments in such companies allow them to go beyond the traditional provision of communication services. The company is already considering similar agreements with other enterprises that correspond to the development strategy in the field of digital technologies.
In December 2024, the company submitted an application to the Antimonopoly Committee (AMCU) regarding the acquisition of Uklon, and the estimated value of the transaction may range from $40 to $80 million. The Uklon service demonstrated impressive financial results: for the three quarters of 2024, the company's turnover amounted to UAH 1.2 billion, which is twice as much compared to the same period in 2023.
