The commander of the operational and strategic group of troops "Tavria" Oleksandr Tarnavskyi reported on the active regrouping and tightening of reserves of Russian forces in the Avdiyiv direction. In recent days, Ukrainian defenders have repelled 19 enemy attacks in different areas, it is noted in his message.
Russian troops , who suffered significant losses during previous battles, are now again actively using aviation and regrouping. However, the Ukrainian troops are not standing aside: they are strengthening their defenses, strengthening with new units and creating new firing positions.
These measures are a response to the recent withdrawal of Ukrainian units from the city of Avdiyivka, which was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi on February 17. Ukrainian troops entrenched themselves on new lines of defense, preparing for possible attacks.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine assumed that Russian forces could use the captured territory as a base for further actions in other directions , including the Kupyansk region in the north.
British intelligence has also suggested that in the coming weeks, Russia may seek to extend its territorial control beyond Avdiyvka, carrying out gradual aggression in the region.
