At a checkpoint near Odesa, a car hit two soldiers, one of them died

In the suburbs of Odessa, one of the border guards tragically died, another was injured as a result of a car hitting a checkpoint. This is reported by the police of Odesa region.

According to preliminary data, the 66-year-old driver of a VAZ did not follow the traffic rules, ignored the speed limit signs in front of the roadblock, and ran into two servicemen.

One of the border guards died on the spot , the other received injuries of varying severity.

The driver was detained, he was in a drunken state.

The police have opened criminal proceedings for violating traffic rules, which caused the death of a person (Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The circumstances of the incident are being investigated, in particular, the technical condition of the car and the speed at which it was traveling are being checked.

This incident once again emphasizes the importance of following the rules of the road, especially near military installations. Roadblocks are critical safety features in the region, and every driver is required to follow the established restrictions and instructions.
