At the border with Hungary detained a Ukrainian with smuggling of the old printed books of the XVIII -XIX centuries

At the checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, the employees of the Transcarpathian customs prevented the illegal import of ancient books that may have historical value. This was reported by the customs press service.

The smuggling was found during customs control of the Mini Cooper D Countryman car, which was driven by a citizen of Ukraine. The driver chose a green corridor lane to cross the border and assured inspectors that did not carry things to be declared or restricted.

However, in the luggage compartment of the car, customs officers found 13 old prints dated 1700-1900, which were carefully hidden among personal belongings.

Upon violation of customs legislation, customs officers sent a message to the Security Service of Ukraine. Preliminary qualification - Article 201 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (smuggling).

The seized books have been submitted for examination - their historical and cultural value will be determined by experts.
