In Lviv region, military stolen fuel from the warehouse

The State Bureau of Investigation has completed a pre-trial investigation into a large-scale theft of fuel and lubricants from the military unit in the Lviv region. According to the investigation, the criminal group operated from April to December 2024 and exported at least 20 tons of fuel on a monthly basis.

The organizer of the scheme was a temporarily appointed head of the fuel composition. He attracted five more people in the case: the chief of storage, two soldiers, a civilian resident, and another serviceman - a driver who was responsible for transportation of the stolen.

The scheme worked as follows: by order of the organizer, the soldiers were drained into special containers, after which it was taken to a private house outside the part. There, the fuel was sold through a civilian accomplice, and the profit was divided between all participants.

At least two episodes of property appropriation have been established within the investigation:

  • purchase of pumps and compressors - over UAH 5 million;

  • Purchase of sealing rings and equipment - another 3.6 million UAH.

The total amount of losses caused to the state is over UAH 920 thousand. Some of these funds, over UAH 656 thousand, have already been reimbursed.

All six participants, including the organizer, are accused of abduction of military property committed by an organized group in a state of martial law. They are threatened with 10 to 15 years in prison.
