At the checkpoint "Palanka-Mayaki-Ovodny" on the border with Moldova, border guards exposed an attempt to export a large amount of unsecured foreign currency from Ukraine. It is reported by the State Border Service of Ukraine.
During the border control of the Toyota car, which was leaving a 35-year-old resident of Odessa region to leave the country, inspectors found a hiding place in the structural cavities of the armrest. In it, a man hid the undeclared 100 thousand euros and $ 160,000. At the current rate, this amount is equivalent to over UAH 11 million.
Upon detected violation before the court decision, the vehicle and cash was withdrawn by employees of the Odessa customs. A check is currently underway to find out the circumstances and possible opening of criminal proceedings.
Border guards urge citizens to comply with the rules of moving cash across the border and remind: the amounts of more than 10 thousand euros in equivalent are subject to mandatory written declaration.
