NABU, SAP and SBU jointly exposed a large-scale corruption scheme, as a result of which UAH 27.3 million was overpaid during the purchase of defense products for the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As "Law and Business" reports, the investigation revealed that the heads of two structural divisions of the Central Department of Aviation Support and Air Defense of the Armaments Command of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine abused their official position in favor of private companies that participated in tenders. With the help of officials, price offers were submitted for tenders from certain participants, which were supposed to create the appearance of competition. At the same time, more favorable offers from other participants were either ignored or deliberately distorted.
Thanks to these machinations, the Armed Forces concluded unprofitable contracts for the purchase of aviation components, which led to an overpayment of UAH 27.3 million. According to the investigation, these purchases were accompanied by a significant increase in the prices of products from foreign manufacturers.
Both officials were charged with abuse of official position, provided for in part. 2 Art. 28 and h. 2 Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, the investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are investigating the entire procurement chain from the foreign supplier to the import of the goods into Ukraine.
