NABU took on the deputy of "Servants of the People" because of illegal enrichment

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) reported the suspicion of one of Ukraine's people's deputies. It is about illegal enrichment and entering unreliable data into the electronic declaration.

According to the investigation, in 2021–2023, the deputy received assets worth more than UAH 20 million, which significantly exceeds her official income. Despite the official anonymity of the name, mass media and journalists point to Iryna Kormyshkina (formerly Allahverdieva), a member of the "Servant of the People" faction.

Scheme of illegal enrichment

As the investigators established, the deputy did not declare the apartment building and two plots of land worth more than UAH 17 million, which she used in 2023. These objects were not indicated in her electronic declaration. The property was purchased for unsubstantiated assets, the sources of which significantly exceed her official income.

She is charged with intentionally entering false data into the declaration (Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). If proven guilty, the deputy faces a fine or restriction of freedom.

This is not the first anti-corruption scandal involving Kormyshkina. In October 2024, she was charged under Art. 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal enrichment. The investigation established that in 2021-2022 she acquired assets worth more than UAH 20 million, while her income during this period was only UAH 2.7 million.

Among the acquisitions was a luxurious house near Odessa, where she now lives. Under this article, punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty is provided for up to 10 years with a ban on holding certain positions for up to three years.

Iryna Kormyshkina became famous in June 2020 after a sexist scandal. The then head of the "Servant of the People" faction, David Arakhamiya, and his deputy, Oleksandr Kornienko, called her a "ship pine" during a conversation. The scandal caused a public outcry, and Kornienko publicly apologized.

In addition, investigative journalists have repeatedly drawn attention to the deputy's lifestyle. For example, in 2022, she received gifts worth more than UAH 19 million, including a Swiss Defy Midnight watch for UAH 310,000. UAH She also owned a Mercedes-Benz S500L car, which, according to the deputy, cost her UAH 1 million, although experts estimated its market value at UAH 4.4 million.

NABU's investigation can become an important precedent in the fight against illegal enrichment among Ukrainian politicians. However, the question remains: will the deputy bear responsibility, given the high-profile scandals that often end without real punishment?
