The chief of staff of the military unit in the Mykolaiv region was informed of the suspicion of baseless charging of surcharges

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) with the assistance of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported the suspicion to the chief of staff of one of the military units in the Mykolayiv region. He is suspected of unjustifiably charging extra payments to servicemen who did not take part in hostilities.

This is reported by "Law and Business" with reference to the SBI.

In June 2024, the official entrusted the calculation of payments to a subordinate without sufficient professional experience. The latter, in turn, issued a reward to the comrades, which is assigned only in the case of direct participation in hostilities. The official did not check the actions of the subordinate and approve the documents on the accrual of money.

The total amount of established damages to the state is more than 4.3 million hryvnias.

The chief of staff is suspected of the negligent attitude of a military official to the service, which caused serious consequences, committed under martial law (Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code).

The sanction of the article provides for a punishment of up to 8 years of imprisonment.

Actions are being taken to compensate for the damages caused to the state.
