Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odesa are the most vulnerable large cities of Ukraine in terms of the risk of blackouts. Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Ukrainian "Energy Research Center", stated this.
In his comment, Kharchenko emphasized that the situation with electricity supply in these cities is critical and requires immediate measures to minimize risks.
"Now there are problems with the transportation of electricity from the right bank of the Dnieper, where the main generating facilities are located, to the left bank. Accordingly, the right bank feels better, more protected. And on the left bank - the front line, scorched earth," says the expert.
Kharchenko noted that the problem with electricity transmission through the Dnipro objectively exists and complicates the situation on the left bank. However, there are solutions designed to mitigate these difficulties as much as possible.
"Kyiv is a very painful city. Kyiv is one of the most dangerous cities in Ukraine from the point of view of energy. Only Kharkiv and Odesa can compete with him. Here, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odesa are the three points on the map of Ukraine where the situation is the worst from the point of view of electricity supply. It is better in Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia," Kharchenko assesses.
We will remind that the situation with energy supply in Ukraine is complicated by military operations in the east of the country and damage to critical infrastructure. To minimize the risks of blackouts, the government and energy companies are actively working to restore and strengthen the power system, but the process requires significant resources and time.
