Some American officials have expressed concern about the age of mobilization in Ukraine, calling for it to be lowered. As Yaroslav Kostenko, People's Deputy from the "Voice" party, notes, congressmen regularly write to him, asking: "We provide you with weapons, but why don't you have people? How is it that they don't get drafted before the age of 25?" Kostenko admits that it is difficult for him to answer these questions, because the situation with mobilization remains difficult.
Discussions about a possible lowering of the age of mobilization are ongoing, but they are conducted in private. The committee has not yet made any official statements on this matter. However, Kostenko emphasized his support for the idea of lowering the mobilization age to 20 years. "Mobilization should start from the age of 20. We educated those who do not want to go to defend their country," said the People's Deputy.
Kostenko also regularly raises the topic of lowering the age of mobilization, stressing that this issue will become especially relevant if a new wave of mobilization is announced in Russia. According to him, Ukraine needs to take into account the requirements of the time and adapt its defense strategies in accordance with new realities.
