Folk omens, name days and events on August 22 in history

On August 22, several important dates are celebrated in Ukraine and the world. This is the Day of Remembrance of the Fallen Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the International Day of Remembrance for Victims of Religious Violence, the World Day of Folklore and Plant-Based Milk. In addition, on this day, believers honor the holy martyrs Agathonikos and Severian according to the new calendar.

According to the new church calendar, on August 22, the martyrs Agathonicus, Severian, Zeno, Theoprepius and their companions are commemorated. They suffered at the beginning of the 4th century during the persecutions of Emperor Maximian. The saints courageously endured torture and refused to renounce their faith, for which they were executed in Byzantium. Their feat became a symbol of steadfastness and unwavering faith.
