The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP) drew up a protocol on an administrative offense against the mayor of Brovary, Ihor Sapozhka. The reason was the facts that raised suspicions of the official's corrupt activities. This became known after a journalistic investigation by Slidstva.Info.
Earlier, journalists reported that the wife of the city mayor Maryna Sapozhko rents a 2023 Range Rover Sport luxury car for 10,000 hryvnias per month. This is almost ten times less than the market price of renting such a car, which is 90-130 thousand hryvnias per month. As it turned out, the company providing the car regularly wins tenders of the Brovary City Council. The mayor himself also uses this car.
At the request of "Slidstva.Info", NAK reported that Ihor Sapozhko violated Part 1 of Article 23 of the Law of Ukraine on Prevention of Corruption by receiving a gift for his wife, which is related to the performance of local self-government functions. The protocol on violations provided for in Article 172-5 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses has already been sent to the Brovary City and District Court.
In addition, NAZK is checking a possible conflict of interests in the actions of the mayor during procurement and concluding contracts with the company "Ukrgefest", which is the lessor of the car. During monitoring, no violations of Article 28 of the Law of Ukraine regarding conflict of interest have been identified.
Ihor Sapozhka's lifestyle is also being monitored. NASC examines whether the standard of living of the mayor and his family corresponds to the declared income and property. The journalists' message has been added to the monitoring materials.
The court will consider the case of an administrative offense and issue a decision on the actions of the mayor, which caused a wide public outcry.
