The Prime Minister of Norway announced the government's decision to allocate 9.5 million dollars for the evacuation of seriously wounded Ukrainian soldiers to medical facilities in Europe. This step is aimed at supporting Ukraine in the conditions of the ongoing conflict and providing the necessary medical assistance to the victims.
The publication VG noted that from August 2022, a converted SAS aircraft, which is a flying resuscitation, will take the wounded from Ukraine for treatment to other European countries. The agreement between Norway and the EU was supposed to expire in November, but it has now been extended.
According to the Prime Minister of the country, Jonas Har Støre, almost half of those who flew out of Ukraine for inpatient treatment were evacuated by Norwegian planes (1,931 patients).
He said that many of the patients have cancer, injuries, fatal burns and broken limbs.
They fly to Poland, from where they are transported to hospitals throughout Europe.
400 patients who were on board the Norwegian Medevac plane received treatment in Norway.
