The State Border Service of Ukraine (SPSU) continues the development of a new model of border protection, said Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson of the SPSU, today, May 1.
According to him, currently the DPSU is actively strengthening its capacities by forming new brigade-type units. This led to an increase in the number of personnel of the State Border Service.
"The creation of border brigades has been going on for several months. We already have such brigades as "Steel Border", "Revenge" and "Hart" in our composition. We plan to further develop this direction," said Demchenko.
He explained that a feature of these units is the possibility of conducting combat operations, the cost of which includes the use of artillery and other means of defeating enemy equipment.
"New border brigades of this type are mainly aimed at the military component. Therefore, they are strengthened by appropriate weapons and equipment, such as means of destroying the enemy's aircraft and armored vehicles," the guest of the broadcast emphasized.
Demchenko added that the new units will monitor the state border when Ukraine exercises full control over its entire internationally recognized border line.
"The new model of border protection will be aimed at defense, not only at defense. Border guards, as always, will be the first on the front lines. Therefore, they need to have the power to repel any threat. Russia will remain a neighbor of Ukraine, and our border guards must be ready for any challenges," the DPSU spokesman concluded.
