In the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, an inter-factional deputy association "Three Seas Initiative - Ukraine" was created at the initiative of twenty-three people's deputies.
People's Deputy of Ukraine Yuriy Oleksandrovych Kamelchuk became the head of this association, the press service of the Ukrainian Parliament reports.
The goal of the inter-factional parliamentary association is joint advocacy together with the public and experts for the development of new legislative initiatives. These initiatives should be aimed at protecting national and international interests of Ukraine.
In addition, the new deputy association plans to create a communication and coordination mechanism. This mechanism will allow every citizen, association of citizens and enterprise to act as a "subject of a legislative initiative" regarding the development of various spheres of cooperation between EU member states, participants of the intergovernmental "Three Seas Initiative".
To ensure the activities and coordination of the inter-factional parliamentary association, an executive office and secretariat will be created in cooperation with the "Three Seas Initiative-Ukraine" Public Union, headed by Andrii Yuriyovych Smorodin.
The main goal of the "Three Seas Initiative" is the development of transport, energy and digital infrastructure, the activation of investment and innovation activities to achieve sustainable socio-economic development of the participating states. This involves the involvement of political, scientific elites, the business community, public figures, youth and students.
