On Saturday, July 20, Deputy Prosecutor General Anton Voytenko took part in a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs regarding the investigation into the murder of public figure and People's Deputy of Ukraine of the 7th convocation Iryna Farion.
During the meeting, the results of priority measures aimed at identifying and detaining the attacker were discussed. Deputy heads of the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine spoke with relevant information.
The investigation is working out several versions, in particular, intentional murder, related to the victim's professional activity and active civic position. Primary interrogations of eyewitnesses, i.e. persons who were near the scene of the incident or who may know any circumstances of the crime, are conducted.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, a complex of investigative actions and operative-search measures are being conducted. In particular, yard and house visits are carried out in order to obtain information that will be important for the pre-trial investigation. Surveillance cameras are being installed and measures are being taken to obtain video recordings from them that will be important for the investigation. In addition, a number of necessary forensic examinations have been scheduled.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
We will remind that on the evening of July 19 in Lviv, an unknown person shot Iryna Farion on Masaryk Street. The attacker, according to local media reports, was a 20-25-year-old boy who was waiting for the victim near the exit, had a pistol without a silencer and was wearing gloves. Doctors hospitalized Iryna Farion with a head injury. Later, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the attack was classified as attempted murder. The condition of the victim was serious, doctors fought for her life, but it was not possible to save her.
Farewell to Iryna Farion will take place on July 21 in Lviv, in the church until 10:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin on July 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. Farion will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery on the central alley, next to the grave of Volodymyr Ivasyuk.
The daughter of Iryna Farion, Sofya Semchyshyn, expressed her deep sorrow and noted: "We are indescribably sad. You are our life for us... We will do everything to bring your idea to life and for you to see the Ukraine of your dreams: Ukrainian, strong, offensive, victorious Ukraine! We love it!"**
