Low -calorie, nutritional and sweet: why carrots are the perfect product for health

Carrots have long become a symbol of healthy eating - and no wonder. Despite the fact that we used to see it bright orange, the first varieties were purple and yellow. Although most often we consume carrot root, its leaves and stems are also edible and are nutritious.

Nutritional value

One portion of carrots (80 g) contains only 27 kcal, but at the same time provides the body with fiber, vitamin C, potassium and most importantly-carotenoids, including beta-carotene, which in the intestine is converted into vitamin A. This vitamin is critical for vision, immunity, and mucous membranes.

As heat treatment increases the benefit

Interestingly, the preparation of carrots - baking, frying or even warming in the microwave - does not reduce, and sometimes even increases the content of useful carotenoids. And adding a few drops of oil to the dish will help you better absorb provitamin A.

Carrots for the heart, weight and even cancer prevention

Carrots are a source of fiber that promotes regulation of cholesterol, which is important for the cardiovascular system. In addition, it is low calorie, but gives a feeling of satiety, so it can be useful for controlling appetite and weight loss. Its natural sweetness helps to reduce the craving for sugar.

Studies also associate regular carrot consumption with a potential reduction in the risk of some cancers, although the evidence is not enough. This is probably partly explained by the fact that carrots are often part of a healthy diet.

For the health of the intestine

Carrot fiber is well fermented and maintains the growth of beneficial intestinal bacteria. This creates an environment favorable for the production of short -chain fatty acids - substances that support not only the intestinal but also the overall health of the body.

How much can you eat and who should be careful

For most people, carrots are absolutely safe product. The optimal serving is 1-2 carrots per day. However, excessive consumption (more than 10 kg daily) can cause side effects: caroteinemia (yellowish skin tone), and in rare cases, a decrease in immune cells or even hormonal failures.

Carrots are not just a root crop, but a real superfood, accessible to everyone. Its regular consumption is a simple and delicious way to maintain vision, skin, heart, weight and digestion.
