Shelling increased in the northern direction of the Kharkiv region, mainly aimed at the city of Vovchansk. As a result, the evacuation of the city began.
Referring to information from the Telegram of the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synegubov, he reports on intensive shelling from anti-aircraft guns, anti-aircraft guns and artillery throughout the night. Russian troops also tried unsuccessfully to break through the border with the help of sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
"The armed forces of Ukraine firmly hold their positions and do not retreat. Not a single meter of territory was lost. There is no potential threat to Kharkiv, and enemy forces are limited only to provocations in the north," the head of Kharkiv OVA emphasized.
He also emphasized that all power structures are working and fulfilling their duties.
"We call on the residents of the border areas to seek shelter, as it does not matter to the enemy who they attack: military infrastructure or unarmed civilians," Synegubov added.
Meanwhile, the head of the Vovchansk military administration, Tamaz Gambarashvili, reported that the city of Vovchansk has been under intense shelling for the third night in a row.
"It is difficult to say where exactly the shelling is coming from. There is no crossing of the border (from the side of the Russian troops - note). ... We are engaged in evacuation. There are no more children in the city," Gambarashvili said.
In the last month, the network has been actively discussing the possibility of a repeated Russian attack on Kharkiv. The Armed Forces emphasize that the occupiers do not have enough strength to capture one of the largest cities of Ukraine.
According to the information of the Main Directorate of Intelligence, the Russian army can prepare an offensive on Kharkiv and Sumy already at the beginning of summer.
Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk, commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, confirmed the possibility of a Russian attack on Kharkiv and Sumy, noting that it is not yet known how serious these plans are.
