Odessa TCC obliged to observe the rights of religious citizens

A member of the religious association "Jehovah's Witnesses" won an important victory in court against the TCC in Odesa region. This case drew attention to issues of human rights and freedom of religion in Ukraine.

The court's decision states that the TCC fined the man 17,000 hryvnias for violating the rules of military registration, as he did not specify personal data and was not registered for military registration. However, a member of "Jehovah's Witnesses" proved in court that he updated his military registration data in the "Reserve+" application within the time limits established by law. The man also repeatedly appealed to various bodies, in particular to the TCC, with a statement to consider the issue of his undergoing alternative service, since he is a minister of a religious association.

As a result, the court canceled the TCC fine.

It will be recalled that earlier the Ukrainian authorities and representatives of the courts stated that religious beliefs in the conditions of martial law are not a reason for postponing mobilization.
